Plainsong Farm is a non-profit ministry currently under the Episcopal Diocese of Western Michigan. This means donors receive a tax exemption. All funds are used in accordance with our mission: to grow food for people and to grow people for God.
We’re fundraising for three connected goals:
- We are expanding our “Give Good Food” campaign. In 2016, 20% of our harvest was donated through emergency food pantries. As we partner with food pantries we learned that getting good food into the hands of all is not a simple task. It involves meeting, logistics planning, and more that is not covered by the costs of our harvest share. Your support enables us to take that time.
- We are growing a Christian food movement. We started a guide to this work in 2015 and recently built a website to help participants find and encourage one another. This is an ecumenical movement that sees faith, food and farming as interconnected aspects of care for neighbor and all Creation.
- We are developing educational programs. Many Christians don’t yet understand the links between discipleship, soil stewardship, climate and food. We are working to create faith formation resources – using 21st century methods – that will address this gap.
