Plainsong is a place where people are needed and belong - a place where people use their bodies to tend the land and nourish neighbors. Volunteering is one of the best ways to experience this. As a volunteer you will directly contribute to a community-driven approach to food access. As you engage in service-learning you'll receive education on the tasks for the day as well as topics like regenerative agriculture, conservation and food systems.
People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. No previous experience or knowledge is expected! Supervised children are welcome. No dogs, please (working dogs accepted).
If you plan to come, please register so we know when to expect you!
Weekly Drop-ins
Mondays, 9:30-11:30 am April 13-Nov 23
Wednesdays, 4:30-6:30pm June 3-Oct 14
All volunteering will focus on a variety of tasks including field work that helps us get healthy food to our community partners, as well as property and conservation projects that help us care for this place. Tasks may include weeding, moving compost, harvesting, pulling invasives and setting out seedlings.
Group Volunteering
If you're looking to bring a group to the farm for service-learning, we want to work with you! Whether you're a corporate group, a Bible study class, or a school group we'd love to know your interest and availability. Email hello@plainsongfarm.com or call (616).747.0737.
*There is a suggested donation of $200 for group volunteering. This allows your work to have an even bigger impact. We welcome groups regardless of the ability to make a donation.
Flower Volunteering
Are you particularly interested in tending flowers or making bouquets? Join us during Monday volunteer drop-in time. We'll harvest at 9:30 am and make bouquets at 10:30 am. Join us for the whole time or come for the portion that interests you!
