‘A farmer should, on Candlemas Day, Have half his corn and half his hay.’
‘On Candlemas Day if the thorns hang adrop, You can be sure of a good pea crop.’
Candlemas is an old feast celebrated at the halfway point between winter solstice and the spring equinox, during which the candles for the coming year are blessed and the story of Jesus’ presentation in the temple is read.
Together we will make candles, honor the dark, sing, and remember the Light that brings life. No experience with candlemas required! All-ages are welcome!
